Phil Jones deserves a break – ‘good fortune’ rather than a medical emergency!

The last thing the Manchester United defender needs is yet another injury.

He has been one of the club’s most injury-prone players but now could be the moment for Jones to get the change of luck he deserves.

The 24-year-old has been at Old Trafford for five years – but for 529 days of his Reds career he has been out with injury.

That equates to almost a year and a half absent.

His injuries have ranged from concussion and shin splints to Billige Manchester City trøje børn shoulder and ankle problems and a blood clot. The latest issue, which kept him out from January to his comeback against Swansea last weekend, was knee trouble.

Some have been just pure bad luck. Others have been the result of Jones’ warrior-like disregard for his own safety.

But while previous brave and battle-scarred United players like Bryan Robson and Kevin Moran were hailed for their courageous no-nonsense ways, Jones has been lambasted by a section of United fans. He became a figure of derision.

But the landscape has changed in United’s defence.
